New Job

I've started a new job with the Inland Empire 66ers minor league baseball team. I wasn't sure what I would be getting myself into at first but I've been working here for a few weeks and I absolutely love it. The work is a little monotonous at times but the staff is amazing. I work in the box office and help sell tickets. I've been getting extra hours by coming in earlier in the day and helping out around the office. The staff is so much fun to be around and we just get along well. It was like we all clicked right away.
There are some perks to working with a minor league baseball team. I get some free tickets and meet some really interesting people. Although I will be working through the entire summer I know I am going to have fun. This seems like a job that I can come back to every summer for as long as I want to do it.
It just goes to show that when one door closes another opens. I wouldn't have been able to find this job if I was student teaching and I'm not student teaching because I couldn't pass my CSET. At first I was really upset that I was having to push my student teaching back to September but now everything is looking up.
Of all the sayings I have to say I like: "When life gives you lemons, grab some salt and tequila and have a party!"

Long time

Wow I can't believe how long its been since I've even been onto Blogger. Between teaching classes, coaching and then feeding my FanFiction addiction I haven't even thought about coming on here.
My teaching classes are finally over...for now. I'm officially ready to get to student teach but now I'm stuck in the limbo that is the CSET black hole. That damn test is going to be a thorn in my side. I have to pass my last section of the test before I can student teach and have until September to get that done. Along with that headache is the task of making sure all the other requirements are fulfilled before I can actual receive my credential, this includes taking a class on US history. I thought I was done with all that in High School. Social Studies has never been close to a fun subject for me, hence why I took it in summer school to get it out of the way. The classes themselves for the program were not difficult in the least. I actually had a lot of fun with my cohort. I'm going to miss them and hope that we will able to at least keep in some kind of touch to know how they are doing.
Coaching has been an exciting adventure. This year I got to coach the Freshmen Girls Basketball team all by myself. It was frustrating and exhilarating all at the same time. It was fun to watch the girls learn the game and get better each day. The excitement on their faces when they first scored a basket or their first win, is why I love coaching. I was actually able to coach them to a winning season. It was the only one in the three levels of the program to have a winning record, so that certainly helped my confidence. I also kept up with being an assistant to the varsity team. They on the other hand did not have such a great season. They had one of the worst records since the school was opened, but I have to give it to the girls...they never quit. They even made it into the playoffs, although it only lasted a game. I'm a bit torn when it comes to coaching. I love it above everything else that I do but I'm not sure if I'm ready to take on a whole program and head coaching job. I still have a lot to learn and what the job entails. I just hope that I can learn it soon and fast. The opportunity to take over may come sooner than later.
Lastly, FanFiction's pull on me seems to be never ending. I can't help but always go on their at least once a day. I know my family thinks I'm ridiculous but I've always loved to read and the variety that is on FF is so enticing. I can't even keep count of how many stories I've read, let alone how many I'm in the middle of reading because they haven't been finished yet. I love to be able to see all the different variations people create just by going off of a series of books. (If you haven't already figured it out from my previous posts, I'm talking about Twilight) There has to be millions of stories and none of them are the same. Even those that have the same idea, the authors seem to view events and personalities different. It's not only an addiction to Twilight but also an addiction to imagination and creativity. I find myself in awe of some of the authors. Their writing styles and ability to create such vivid alternate worlds leave me completely fascinated. I don't know if I'll ever get tired of reading it.
Well I should probably get out of bed and dressed for the day. Hopefully I will be on here a little more often and have more to write about when I start my new job for the summer.

Movie night

Going out with the family for a movie night. I love when we get to go out and just be a family. With the $2 theater so close it gets to happen a lot more often than it used to.
I found out that there is 2 drive-in theaters nearby and some really good movies coming soon to them. For $7 you get to see 2 movies. I can't wait to go!! I've always wanted to go to a drive-in theater and soon I'm going to.
It's nice to be able to go out on a whim and just hang out. I haven't done it in so long, because everyone has been so busy, including myself. I feel like my mind has just been working overtime and was getting burned out. Now I get some extremely needed chillaxin' time.

I must have forgotten to post this when I wrote it months ago. So here it is. It's short, just a little blurb I felt like letting loose.

Twilight

I said this was coming so here it is.
I came late to the Twilight fan base. Even after the first movie came out, my family went to see it cause we had heard so much about it. I wasn't sure about all the hype about it, it seemed like nothing special to me. My sister and I felt like we were missing parts of the story; like there was more to it. My sister is the one who read the books first. She was just going to read Twilight but as soon as she finished she went right out and got the next one. She did it for each book. She badgered me to read the series and I fought her off for the longest time. Then with the talk about the second movie coming out I decided to give into the craze and read the books.
I had thought that I would just read the first one and wait for New Moon to come out to theaters to be surprised when I saw it but when I finished Twilight in a day I was hungry for more. I was going to borrow my sisters copy like I did for the first book but she had lent it to someone else, so of course I went right out and got my own copy. I also finished that in a day, mostly because I was staying up all night reading it. It's a good thing I read them in the summer, otherwise I don't know how I would have be able to function. All and all it took me about 5 days to get through the entire series. My sister made fun of me because she said I was more addicted than she was and it was only fair that she gave me as much crap as I did her. I took it in stride.
I went through the rest of the summer without reading anything; however, I did go up on the Internet more to see what was happening in the Twi-universe. At the end of the summer my family was going to Hawaii for vacation. I was determined to read some other book and packed 2 different books. When I got to the Airport I tried to start reading, but couldn't get past the first page. My mind was still too engulfed in Twilight that I couldn't bring myself to read anything else. So I went into the bookstore and bought a copy of Twilight and started reading it. Of course I finished it before the trip was over and had to wait to get home before I could finish the series again.
That started my new tradition. Since I have read the Twilight saga every summer. I actually just finished reading the series because my sister had started reading it and it was as if I got a craving after seeing her read the books. I needed to satisfy my craving so I wound up reading the series over the weekend, which started another Twilight frenzy, because I couldn't stop at just reading the books.
I started looking online again for anything and came upon a fan fiction site. I saw a story that I had seen the title of before but never thought about looking at it. I finally decided to look at it and got addicted to it. It's called "Siren Blood" written by Midnightwalking on Twilight Fan Fiction. There were 56 'chapters' and I read them all in 3 days. It's a story about if Edward and Bella really existed and what they would think of the whole Twilight craze. It also is Edward's account of Bella's story, as it "really" happened. There is more chapters to come but haven't been put up yet. It's driving me crazy having to wait and not being able to speed up the process at all.
As for the movies, the first one was a little different. I think it could have been done better. New Moon was a lot better, but since it was my least favorite book it was hard to like it very much. Eclipse has been my favorite so far. I saw it in the movies 4 times and now have to wait till December to get it on DVD. I also can't wait for the final movies to come out. It's going to be EPIC!

Facebook

Ok so I was talking with my mom today and she was telling me about someone who was upset about being de-friended by someone on Facebook. I started cracking up...when did it become the latest "BURN" when someone de-friend's you on Facebook?
It's official I'm no longer talking to you, I'm not your friend on Facebook.
Soon its going to be: I'm cutting you out of my life. I'm no longer following you on Twitter, you are not my friend on Facebook and I have blocked you from seeing when I'm available on AIM!
I understand the whole thing that these social networks have become a huge deal, but you cannot honestly get hurt or try to hurt someone by de-friending them or blocking them from seeing their profile. That is not the worst thing in the world. Of course if you write something on someone's wall that is mean and hurtful I can understand, but guess what....you can delete any post and its like it never happened.
This whole Facebook "burn" is really immature. If someone does it to you then they need to grow up, so its probably best that it happened cause you don't need that kind of immaturity in your life. If you do it to someone else...then you know what I think of you and have nothing left to say.

Mustache

Had too much fun today. Went to JoAnn's fabrics today and found this fake mustache in their Halloween section. My brother has this big curly mustache that drives all of us crazy and he likes to use wax to curl it up, but sometimes it gets into his mouth. Anyway to make a story short, we all make fun of him and his mustache so we decided to put on this fake-stache and took pictures.

Frankly I think my mom won. She totally made the Josh face!

Cake making- First attempt

My mom came home today with a huge sheet cake and decided she was going to try to transform it into a purse. She was testing it out because she wants a purse cake for a meeting she has next week. It didn't come out too bad but it is a little loppy and could use more work. However, as a first attempt at ever making a professional model cake.

Here's the end result.
